SMS Settings  Print this Article

To configure SMS settings for monitoring notifications:

  1. Go to My Monitors, then click SMS Settings;
  2. Choose the frequency for SMS alerts to be sent in the event of a monitor having a 'down' state';
  3. Choose the number of SMS to be sent for each 'down' state of a monitor;
  4. Select your Country Code from the drop-down;
  5. Enter your Mobile Phone Number in the box provided;
  6. Click Save Changes to apply your settings, or Go Back to discard changes. Each time you Save Changes, a new Country Code & Mobile Phone Number pair will appear, allowing you to configure multiple SMS alerting recipients if desired.

Items #2 and 3 above work together, so if you set a frequency of '5 minutes' and the number of SMS to '3', you will receive an SMS one minute, 6 minutes, and 11 minutes after a monitor goes down (assuming it stays down), then you will receive no more SMS for that monitor until it returns to the 'up' state (at which time you will receive one SMS notifying you that the monitor is back up).

Additionally, you can configure a unique Contacts List for each monitor, and if a down condition occurs an SMS will be sent to the mobile number that you specify for each contact, conforming to the frequency and count settings you have specified per the above.  See Managing Monitors for more info on the Contacts List.
