NOTE: The server management system places all requests in a queue which uses a first-in-first-out model and may relay commands and requests over long distances. Some operations may take up to several minutes before they are completed and the results are updated in the management interface. Please be patient and do not submit duplicate commands as this will only result in problems.

  1. Click Home to go to your client area if needed, then click on the VDC you want under "Your Active Products / Services". You can also click the Services Panel near the top of the page to get your full list of current services, if there are more than will fit in the on-page list;
  2. Click on the VDC that you wish to manage;
  3. On the Manage tab for that VDC, locate the server you need to work with, then click the Manage button that is alongside it. (Note - if need to destroy the server, you can simply click the Delete button that is alongside it, and confirm that you wish to destroy in the dialog box that follows. You do not need to shut down the server first);
  4. From the Manage Server screen, you can see the current status and build parameters of the machine. You can also reveal the root/admin password by clicking Show in the password column, and you can change the root password by clicking Change in the password column, typing your new password, and clicking Change again to submit the new password (NOTE: changing the root password in this way will cause a reboot of the machine);
    1. The root/administrator password can consist of 6-32 characters, letters [A-Za-z], digits [0-9], dash [ - ] and lower dash [ _ ], and the following special characters: ~ ! @ # $ * _ - + = ` \\ { } [ ] : ; ' , . ? /. You can use both lower- and uppercase letters.
  5. You can use the stack of buttons that are to the left of the server details to perform the following functions:
    1. Start VM - will boot the machine if it is not already running;
    2. Stop VM - will forcefully shut down the machine;
    3. Shutdown VM - will attempt a graceful shutdown of the machine;
    4. Reboot - will perform a graceful reboot of the machine; will perform a forced reboot if a graceful reboot is not possible;
    5. Startup on Recovery - starts the VS in recovery mode with a temporary login ("root") and password ("recovery");
    6. Rebuild - re-images the machine with a fresh instance of the OS upon user confirmation. All files and data on the machine will be erased;
    7. Open Console - provides a virtual console connection to the server. Works with both character and graphics interfaces;
    8. Edit VM - allows editing of the values for Memory, CPU and CPU Shares, IP Address count and Port Speed for the machine. Also allows changing the machine Label and root password (NOTE: changes made may result in a reboot of the machine);
    9. Firewall Management - allows the creation of rules for the virtual external firewall for the machine (see this guide);
    10. IP Management - allows for adding and removing IP Addresses assigned to the machine, and rebuilding of the network interface;
    11. Network Management - for viewing the network statistics for the machine;
    12. CPU Usage Graphs - for viewing the load statistics for the machine's processors;
    13. Disk Management - allows for adding, editing and removing disk volumes for the machine (see this guide).
  6. Activity Logs that are displayed below the machine details will show the history of actions performed for this machine, with the outcome of each action.
