Adding An R1Soft Backup Job  Print this Article

Most of the management of R1Soft backup service is accomplished from inside the R1Soft Server Backup Manager:

  1. Click Home in the top menu bar, then click R1Soft Backup Service under Your Active Products/Services;
  2. On the Manage tab, click Log In To Control Panel;
  3. In the R1Soft Backup Manager, click on Protected Machines, then click on the +New Machine button. Note: if the button is grayed out, then you have used all of your backup licenses and will need to upgrade your plan to add more, then return to the Backup Manager (use this guide);
  4. Fill out the machine details - a useful Machine Name, the public Hostname (must resolve externally) or IP Address of the machine, the Port Number to be used for backup agent connection (1167 is the default);
  5. Select the Storage volume to use for the backups (typically you will have only one choice here);
  6. Set your backup Frequency and Starting time;
  7. Configure your desired Retention Settings or accept the defaults;
  8. Enable compression of the backup images (if desired) and choose  compression type;
  9. Enable encryption and enter a passphrase if you wish backups to be password protected;
  10. Click Save to create the new backup job.
You can now proceed to deploy the backup agent to the machine if you have not already done so. You can also take an immediate backup - from the Protected Machines area, just click the gear icon in the Action column for the machine, and on the menu which appears select Backup Now (the backup agent must be installed on the machine prior to performing a backup).
