Restoring Files From An R1Soft Backup  Print this Article

Restoring from an R1Soft backup is accomplished from inside the R1Soft Server Backup Manager. Note that the degree to which system files can be restored via the following method will vary by operating system and other factors:

  1. Click Home in the top menu bar, then click R1Soft Backup Service under Your Active Products/Services;
  2. On the Manage tab, click Log In To Control Panel;
  3. In the R1Soft Backup Manager, click on Protected Machines. Click the gear icon for the machine you wish to restore, then click Open Recovery Points from the menu;
  4. In the list of Recovery Points, click the gear icon for the point you wish to use for the restore, and select Browse from the menu;
  5. Select the file(s) and directory(ies) you wish to restore from the file system tree. Tick the box at the very top of the list of you wish to attempt a restore of everything. You can double-click on folders to drill down to lower levels and select items - use the UP button at the top of the screen to move back up through level(s) when done;
    • Alternatively, you can Download the selected files and directories - click Download Selected at the top of the screen to download the items you've ticked the box for, or click the download icon and the right of a single item to download it individually. A wizard will open to guide you through the process.
  6. Click Restore Selected when you are ready to restore files. A dialog box will open, allowing you to select a restore Agent (i.e. target server, the default being the server that the backup came from) as well as a restore location on the server, if you don't want the files copied back to their original locations. You can also set/unset options to compress the files for transfer and to calculate an estimated restore size. NOTE: be sure to tick Overwrite Existing Files if you want to fully roll back all files on the target wherever possible.
  7. Click Restore to start the restoration process. A progress dialog will show you the stats for the restore in real time. You can close this dialog if you wish the restore process to run in the background. You can revisit the stats for the restore job by clicking gear icon -> Task History for the protected machine at any time.
